Many of us are wondering how exactly we can help in light of Sunday’s deadly shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. While our nation is hurting, you can take personal action in this healing process.

Here are ways that you can assist:

Send positive vibes on social media

Use the hashtags like #PrayForOrlando and #PrayForFlorida. Let those who are suffering know that you stand in solidarity with them. Even if it’s just a tweet, a Facebook share or a Instagram post, your support can go a long way.

You can also show support for Pulse Nightclub on Twitter @PulseOrlando.

Donate money

GoFundMe accounts have been established by Equality Florida and the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.

Call/write to your local and national politicians

Let your elected officials know that you want change to happen, and the best way to do so is in our laws. Igor Volsky, the Deputy Director for Center for American Progress Action Fund, has saved us some time by calling out politicians that are tweeting their thoughts and prayers, but haven’t done anything to curtail violence.

Go to a vigil in your community

Tons of vigils are being held nationwide. Find out when and where they are being held. If one isn’t, you can take the initiative by starting one of your own.

Donate blood

Thousands of people having been standing in long lines in Orlando to donate blood to help the victims of the shooting that survived. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that blood banks are at capacity and donors are asked to come back in the coming days. If you’re not in Orlando, it’s still a good idea to donate blood in the event of situations like this.

Regardless of what you decide to do, your actions can help ease the pain felt across the nation in light of this tragedy.
