#HBCUMenInSuits is more than a hashtag to appreciate the beauty of Black men, it is an initiative to display Black Excellence at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. On May 30, Yao Lydia of Florida A&M University started the hashtag to inspire Black folks to “love, support, and attend black colleges and well as support other black environments.”

For others, the hashtag also serves as a means to debunk everlasting stereotypes. For years, many have only seen Black men in a negative light. The following photos are more than a compilation of Black excellence, they are the manifestation of the work of Black colleges and universities as well as a display of the humanity and success of Black men.
