Beyoncé performed 'Daddy Lessons' at the CMA Awards as we pulled out our cowboy hats & boots

Remember that time Beyoncé invented country music? No? We’ll refresh you. She did on Wednesday night as she killed the stage at the 50th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, a rumor spread like rapid wildfire on social media that Beyoncé would be performing the country-tinged “Daddy Rumors,” accompanied by the Dixie Chicks, whose cover of the song went viral.

Live footage of us getting ready to go home to see the performance.

Everyone started to get in formation.

The exact rumor was that Bey would be opening up. But when 8:00 came and Mrs. Carter wasn’t on stage, we were miffed!

But we continued to wait.

It was seeming like the CMAs scammed us and we just needed answers.

But the performance came….and she slayed.

Of course there seemed to be some haters (other than the Tomi Lahrens of the world)

We were here for the Dixie Chicks

But at the end of the day, we waited all night for that, and had to go right after.

BUT ALSO, don’t forget…
