Yaya Bey splashed onto the scene with her multi-faceted EP The Many Alter-Egos of Trill’Eta Brown. However, she took a completely different approach to releasing it. The EP is a catalog of songs, a book and a digital collage. The promotion for the record doesn’t stop there though, today I have visuals for the album, this time for the song “Throo (talitha cumi).”

Yaya’s voice steals the show with the minimalistic production as the background. I love this video because there is a loose narrative being told. The video opens with a couple having an argument and Yaya Bey’s soothing voice comes in as the solution to the conflict we’re seeing. As the video progresses, we see the couple make up and get back to where they were. Maybe I’m just a sucker for black love being shown and presented in such a romantic way, but Yaya Bey brings the correct tone and peacefulness to this song. The guitar riffs in the background also set the mood for Yaya to shine.

Check out the video for Yaya Bey’s “Throo” above, and if you like what you hear, stream her EP The Many Alter-Egos of Trill’Eta Brown right HERE.
