Training Day isn’t over yet. The story following Denzel Washington as shifty LAPD detective, Alonzo Harris and his protege, Jake Hoyte played by Ethan Hawke will find a home on CBS, with a slight twist.

This series begins 15 years after the 2001 film, with reversed roles. Its premise will center on a young, Black officer, accepted onto an elite task force, partnered with a veteran white detective with an appetite for getting his hands dirty. Training Day’s original director, Antoine Fuqua will return behind the lens and as executive producer of the pilot. Will Beall, former LAPD homicide detective and screenwriter for the film will wear a producer hat as well as Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman, with KristieAnne Reed as co-executive producer.

CBS has had success with adapting film for the small screen before with their version of Limitless. The network will also debut a television adaptation of Rush Hour on March 31st of this year.
