Common’s commencement speech at New Jersey’s Kean University has been cancelled because of complaints from police in the area. Members of the State Troopers Fraternal Association of New Jersey voiced their discontent from lyrics in Common’s “A Song For Assata” (which was in his album in 2000)…As The Record reports, Chris Burgos, president of the State Troopers Fraternal Association of New Jersey, called it a “slap in the face” to law enforcement.
