Between A Black Lady Sketch Show and Sherman’s Showcase, we’re in the midst of a Black Sketch renaissance!

Not even a week out from its season debut and a clip from the latter show, from Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, has been making waves all over social media.

The sketch, Drop it Low for Jesus features a performance by the group RWKSY (Real Women Know Something, Y’all), who put on for their No. 1 man, Jesus.

The clip first gained traction outside of Sherman’s Showcase viewers when it was shared by Instagram comedian Karlton Humes aka @notkarltonbanks, who does skits based on church comedy. He did a reenactment music video of the sketch, but not many people know that it is actually from Sherman’s Showcase.

Since the skit made its way onto the internet, people have been vibing to the song.

Per its official description, each episode of Sherman’s Showcase is hosted by Sherman McDaniels (Salahuddin) as he “takes viewers through time via music and comedy drawn from the 40-year library of a legendary (but fictional) musical variety show, drawing inspiration from Solid Gold, Soul Train and Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. Whether it’s a questionably-attired funk super group in the 1970s, an up-and-coming MC in the 1980s or an R&B diva from the 1990s, Sherman’s Showcase has it all: music, comedy, gameshow segments, political roundtables, commercial parodies, breakout hits destined to climb the charts, a dancing robot and a legendary host who’s been there from the beginning.”

You can check out another sketch from the premiere episode below, as well an exclusive clip from this week’s brand-new episode airing on August 7 at 10 p.m./9C.  In that episode, host Morris Day, documents the rise, fall and rise of iconic pop star, Charade, from his discovery on Sherman’s Showcase through his historic 2007 comeback.
