Hey New Yorkers (for the rest of you, sorry!), here’s an event that I think you will most certainly appreciate, and might even want to attend when it takes place this Sunday, June 12, at the SVA Theatre in Manhattan.

Presented by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the SVA Theatre will host a 25th anniversary screening of John Singleton’s landmark, Oscar nominated feature film debut, “Boyz N the Hood,” on Sunday, June 12, during an event that will also include a Q&A with Singleton present, moderated by Walter Mosley, which should certainly be informative and entertaining.

The program will start at 1pm and will run through 3:30pm.

By the way, as we mentioned earlier this year on this blog, the film is celebrating its 25th year in release (July 2, 1991).

Tickets to this Sunday’s event can be purchased right now through Eventbrite, and cost a very reasonable $5, so take advantage of the opportunity to see the film on the big screen (I suspect there are a lot of you reading this who have likely never seen “Boyz N the Hood” in a theatrical setting – especially if you were born after 1991), as well as see Singleton himself in person, and hear him give you some *inside baseball* on the making, distribution and legacy of the film.

Tickets may be available at the door one hour prior to the event, at 12pm, depending on availability. In other words, it’s best to buy yours before Sunday. Click here to order now.

Seating is general admission. Doors will open approximately 30-45 minutes prior to its start time.
