Searchlight Pictures has premiered an extended new trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ latest film, Poor Things.

Starring Emma Stone, the film is based on the 1992 novel by Scottish writer Alasdair Gray.

Stone headlines a star-studded cast, which includes Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott and Margaret Qualley.

Here’s an official description:

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Poor Things is written by The Great showrunner Tony McNamara. It is produced by Lanthimos, Stone, Ed Guiney, Ali Herting, Andrew Lowe and Dave McCary, with Ildiko Kemeny, Kasia Malipan and David Minkowski serving as co-producers.

The film arrives in theaters on Dec 8. Watch the extended first look below.
