We have just a month and some change left until the latest, highly-anticipated Marvel installment, Luke Cage, will debut on Netflix. We’ve already seen that the first trailer was lit and unapologetically black, now we are seeing what is set to go down come late September.
The audience is introduced to Luke Cage (Mike Colter), an unassuming hero with superhuman powers, including an unbreakable, bulletproof body. He is pitted against neighborhood villains like Mahershala Ali’s Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, who seem to be set on having the city up in flames.
We even see characters like Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Dillard, who calls Harlem “a symbol of hope and prosperity.” This is contrasted with Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, telling Cage, “if you want justice, you have to get it yourself.” There is even a glimpse of Simone Missick as fan-favorite Misty Knight.
