This past Friday, Hillary Clinton spoke to a predominately black crowd at the National Urban League’s conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She addressed racial inequality and the hypocrisy of presidential candidates who fish for valuable black votes.

Clinton is right. Every candidate is trying to capture the black and Latino vote by appealing to them with emotional speeches and empty, yet attention-grabbing rhetoric. They promise that they will make life easier for us. But will they?

When it comes down to it, it takes a candidate who is not heavily influenced by their donors and wealthy constituents to stand up for racial minorities and the inequalities we face. They’ll need to make sure the policies they push for won’t further oppress our people by closing doors for us.

This is what Clinton is urging the crowd to understand. But do you think Hillary is sincere herself? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
