History was made Tuesday night when Hillary Clinton won the Democratic party nomination. She is officially the first female nominee of a major political party.

Clinton’s road to the nomination was rocky at times — even at the Democratic National Convention there was a divide between Clinton supporters and those who were still fighting for Bernie Sanders. But many, including her formal rival, Sanders, expressed their support for the former Secretary of State.

The news follows a heart-warming endorsement speech from First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama on Monday and a moving speech by the Mothers of the Movement Tuesday night.

Clinton tweeted a simple message to celebrate:

And regardless of your feelings toward Clinton, one thing’s for sure — her nomination will change the face many young people think of when they imagine a presidential nominee.
