The world is mourning the death of the iconic David Bowie, who passed away Sunday night. The tributes have been rolling in all morning celebrating his legendary contributions to style and music, especially from the Hip Hop community.
David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime.

And it’s no wonder why, seeing as Bowie has been sampled in some of our favorite Hip Hop records, most notably his song Fame.
1. Takeover, Jay Z (samples Fame)
2. Fame, Dr. Dre (samples Fame)
3. Been Around The World, Puff Daddy, Mase, & Notorious BIG (samples Let’s Dance)
4. Take Notice, J Dilla feat. Guilty Simpson (samples Soul Love)
5. Innocent Leader, El P (samples Soul Love)
6. The Art of Sh*t Talkin, J-Zone (samples Soul Love)
And a man no stranger to Hip Hop samples even got on the Bowie bandwagon with this funk record.
7. Hot (I Need To Be Loved), James Brown (samples Fame)
And of course this 90s classic…
8. Ice, Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice (samples Under Pressure)
And let’s not forget this fantastic interview with him and Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def). He will be missed. Peace Mr. Bowie and may your soul rest easy.
