Matilda is one of those quintessential, coming of age, classic stories that most ’90s kids remember with fond memories. So when Twitter user @byisikalu brought up the idea of a #BlackMatilda, and Marsai Martin as the genius lead role, the wheels in our head began to spin and thus our dream cast for the movie was made.
“you like to read?”
“oh yes, i love to read.”
“what do u like to read?”
“people who come for me.”#BlackMatilda pic.twitter.com/qy9J8VjBbx

Marsai Martin as Matilda Wormwood
Kevin Hart and Taraji P. Henson as Harry and Zinnia Wormwood
Nene Leakes as Ms. Trunchbull
Rashida Jones as Miss Jennifer Honey
Octavia Spencer as Ms. Phelps
Quvenzhané Wallis as Lavender
Kid President, Robby Novak as Bruce Bogtrotter
Skai Jackson as Amanda Thripp
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the FBI Agents Bob and Bill
Somebody call Ava Duvernay or Ryan Coogler because we are definitely trying to make this a reality. We’re thinking we have to open-call the role of Matilda’s older brother, Michael Wormwood. What young black male actor do you think could do the part justice?
