My boy John Boyega is becoming the hardest working man in Hollywood (yes, we’re boys now). Not only is he the leading man of the Star Wars franchise, the leading man and co-producer on Pacific Rim 2, but now it’s been announced that he has been cast in another project headed by Kathryn Bigelow.

Once again, Boyega hit the timeline to confirm that the news was true.

Reports have said that the project is still untitled, but John might have given it to us in that tweet – 12th Street. The film centers on the five-day long, 1967 riots in Detroit incited by a police raid on a bar on the corner of 12th St (Rosa Parks Blvd today). The altercations between the police and the patrons resulted in what is known as one of the deadliest riots in our country’s history. Bigelow’s film will turn a microscope on the systematic racism that took place in the city.

Obviously, there’s no info about who John is playing. But just from the source material, it’s easy to tell that this is a very important story to tell. This could be a role for Boyega to really flex his chops as an actor. It’s safe to say that he and his team are picking projects that will continue to solidify him as a staple in the business for years to come.
