Lando Chill has had a solid 2016 dropping his debut album For Mark, Your Son in August. With a quick turnaround, we've already got a brand new EP from the Arizona native. With bands such as BadBadNotGood & The Internet teaming up with artists like Ghostface Killah, Mick Jenkins and more, the need for more music like it continues. Enter Lando Chill. Back in 2014, Lando teamed up with a live band, thus the fruits of the Madera Canyon EP were created.
I had the humbling opportunity to open for Lando Chill, and although it’s easy to pigeonhole the music as hip-hop, Lando brings more to the table. He can rap bars around your head, but what sells him to audiences is his charisma in singing and stage presence. Add a full band to this and you have a completely different experience than you would just listening to his debut album. The Madera Canyon EP extends 8 tracks and gives jazzy, funky and even electronic spins to joints coming before, after and even from For Mark Your Son.
