New York resident Kingsley Burnett was anticipating his trip to Sydney, Australia. So you can likely guess his disappointment when he landed in Sidney, Montana, after accidentally booking the wrong flight.

Burnett recently shared this unexpected adventure with Storyful, revealing that after his trip to Australia was delayed in late January, he rebooked the flight — just not to the correct destination.

At first, Burnett didn’t notice his mistake. He departed New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Jan. 26 and landed in Billings, Montana. It was there that Burnett realized he wasn’t making it to the land down under.

“I had to find out for myself that Billings, Montana, would only take me to Sidney, Montana, where there are no kangaroos waiting to welcome Mr. Burnett,” he told Storyful, according to Fox 5 News.

Burnett went on to share that seeing the size of the plane was somewhat of a hint that he wasn’t flying to another country.

“I saw the little plane with like nine passengers and wondered, ‘How is that going to get me to Australia?’” Burnett said.

“My story in a bottle ended with Carol Castellano at the American Airlines counter as she tried to send me to the correct place — unfortunately that turned out to be back to NYC after a night out in Billings. Thanks Carol,” he concluded.

Luckily for Burnett, he was able to reschedule his trip and will be flying to Sydney, Australia, this summer.
