Last week we told you about the Memphis teen shot and killed days before her high school graduation. Myneishia Johnson’s mother and young son set out to finish what she started.

On Saturday, the two accepted her diploma with the 2016 graduating class of Booker T. Washington.

1-year-old Kylan and Terri Johnson walked across the stage with cheers and a huge round of applause from Myneishia’s classmates. Ms. Johnson had these heartfelt final words for her daughter, also known as Shugnug.

She said, “I love you Shugnug. Momma got Kylan. You got so much support — so much friends and family that love you, baby. I know you see us ’cause you watching down on us. I just want you to know from all of us — we love you Shugnug.”

The 18-year-old was laid to rest on Friday. Her accused killer is in jail.
