’90’s television enthusiasts may be thrilled with the news of DJ Tanner’s spin-off Fuller House coming to Netflix, but it left some of us wanting a few more spin-offs from some of our favorite characters in television history.
1. Judy Winslow, Family Matters
Definitely wondering why Judy went upstairs, and never came back down. That was a long time-out.
2. Freddie Brooks, A Different World
Freddie was an underrated star all on her own. Plus, who doesn’t love Cree Summer? Whatever the show would consist of, we can be sure it would be the epitome of #BlackGirlMagic
3. Roger, Sister Sister
Tia and Tamera went off to college, but where did Roger go? Home?
4. Claire #1, My Wife and Kids
My Wife and Kids pulled an Aunt Viv on us. We should at least pay homage to the original.
I’d like to have known a little more about Kenny, and his brother. Until then, I’ll just assume his older brother is Steve Harvey, and keep it moving.
6.Tommy, Martin
By now, I’m sure we’ve all guessed, or at least assumed what Tommy’s “job” may have been. It would be interesting to see how he’s fared since.
7. Tootie, The Facts of Life
The Facts of Life did give us a reunion movie a few years back and Tootie was a talk-show host living with her daughter, Tisha. A Regine spin off would have been everything too; her prince charming Dexter Knight leaves her a widow… and his entire fortune. Smooches!
8. Suzie Carmichael, The Rugrats
We didn’t see enough of Susie. Why? Because Susie was in the house being a child, not roaming the streets with screwdrivers in her underclothes.
9. Gerald, Hey Arnold!
Gerald seemed to have a cute backstory. I would have tried a spinoff on for size.
10. Jodie Landon, Daria
“Queen of the negroes” Overachiever. Hate it or love it. What more can we say? More #BlackGirlMagic
11. Michael, Zoey 101
Sidekick to a not-so-interesting character. Honorable mention.
