Everyone across the country seems to be buzzing about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision not to stand for the national anthem. Either you’re for him, or against his protest. So what does the leader of the free world think?

He’s unbothered by it.

President Barack Obama says Kaepernick is “exercising his constitutional right.” The President made remarks Monday at a news conference during a meeting in Hangzhou, China. Obama admitted that he hasn’t had much time to keep up with the NFL and Kaepernick’s controversy but felt assured that Kaepernick, “cares about some real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about.”

Kaepernick kneeled last week during the national anthem in the 49ers’ final preseason game leading to the #KapSoBlack hashtag on Twitter and was joined by teammate Eric Reid. Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane took a seat during anthem as well last week. U.S. Women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe became the latest athlete Sunday to join Kaepernick in kneeling.
