The 2016 Class of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famers was announced Monday, honoring those pioneers and game changers in the game of basketball. This year’s class includes headliners Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson and Yao Ming. Along with these headliners are others such as Darrell Garretson,Tom Izzo, John McClendon, and Sheryl Swoopes.

To be a member of this class is an elite honor which requires at least 18 out of 24 votes from the Naismith Memorial Honors Committee to be elected into the Hall of Fame. Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the NMB Hall of Fame, says that this year’s class is “big in stature, personality, and impact.” He goes on to say that “These ten inductees have each contributed to the game in their own meaningful way and we are very pleased to honor them in Springfield.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
