Let’s face it — Shonda Rhimes and the magical place called #Shondaland run our Thursday nights. Even when her three super popular shows aren’t airing, their designated trending topics are filling our Twitter timelines for hours on end. As if having these trophies under her belt wasn’t enough, Rhimes is busy at work, recently selling yet another show to ABC.
In case you haven’t been keeping track, that’s four shows in development for Rhimes. Yes, four.
The latest is a medical drama that’s set in Baghdad. The new show is being written by a black woman producer named Zoanne Clack who works for Rhimes’ current medical masterpiece, Grey’s Anatomy. Seems like this new show/team will no doubt bring even more diversity and voices to prime-time cable.
While you were going about your business, Rhimes sold three other shows to ABC, including a divorce comedy named Splitsville, a drama called The Catch about a fraudulent investigator, and even a drama about nuns that doesn’t yet have a title.
In addition to her Thursday-night lineup of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder, we’re excited to see Rhimes’ other projects come to fruition.
So although you might be excited about your accomplishments, remember the #hustle and #BlackGirlMagic Shonda Rhimes continues to showcase and look to her majesty of prime-time TV for future inspiration.
