Honestly, it's a great year to be Solange Piaget Knowles.
Hours after being announced as one of the main stage acts for the Essence Music Festival, the Houston-born songstress and her striking squad took over the stage on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And yes, it was as magical as you think.
Knowles, regally draped in a custom scarlet piece by Mama Tina alongside her background singers, belted out a soulful rendition of “Rise” and “Weary”. The performance also included Alvin Ailey-inspired choreography that elevated the powerful imagery and message tenfold. Solange provided the masses with yet another visual and audial experiences since the release of her critically-acclaimed album, A Seat at The Table.
Solange gave credits to her team on Instagram writing, "Jimmy Fallon Tonight Love and honor to Revelations by Ailey Singers: Isadora Mendez and Franchelle Lucas Costumes : Tina and Tim White Choreography/Creative Direction: Myself Band: Drums- John Key Jr. Bass – David "DJ" Raymond Jr. Keys- Reshard Baham Co Musical Director – Pj Morton Dance coordinator- Maya Taylor."
The Twittersphere praised her appearance on the late night talk show with 140 characters or less of “YAS” and “she did that” dancing around the timeline in the wee hours of the morning.
