R&B singer Michel’le Toussaint’s life story has been picked up by the Lifetime Movie Network to air as one of its new movies geared towards millennial women. As one of the ventures announced on the network’s development slate, the tentative titled “The Michel’le Story” will not only highlight the singer’s rise to platinum artistry but it will also show her relationship with hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre.

After the release of the film “Straight Outta Compton,” Michel’le openly addressed the lack of light shed upon the emotional and physical abuse she faced while with Dr. Dre and the missing of her presence overall. Although she was not angered by the missing links, she is excited to be able to share her side of the story.

“For many years I was unwilling to share my personal experiences. I am now ready to open up about my career, relationships and family,” Michel’le said.

Sony Pictures and Thinkfactory Media will be producing the film for Lifetime with Leslie Greif as the executive producer. Michel’le has worked with Thinkfactory Media in the past during her time on TV One’s series “R&B Divas.” She is confident in Thinkfactory’s ability to accurately depict her life for the public to see. ThinkFactory’s Executive Vice President Adam Reed is also excited for the partnership and the challenge to get her story right.

“Michel’le is one of the most talented, fearless women I have ever met, captivating audiences both on stage and in front of the camera. The past few years of working with her have been incredible and we are thrilled she’s allowing us to lower the veil to tell her inspiring inside story as no one else could… [her] conviction for life and raw honesty deserves to be shared with the world, and we are honored to give her story justice,” Reed said.

Now we know when it comes to biopics, Lifetime has had hits and misses, but with an optimistic look to the future, what are you hoping to see in Michel’le’s movie or who are you hoping to see?
