A South Carolina school officer grabbed a high school student from her seat, knocked her to the ground and dragged her across the classroom on Monday, a video shows.

The brief, cell phone video shows an officer grabbing the student by her arms while she’s sitting at her desk and flip her over, and pulling her to the ground. The officer then yanks the girl to the front of the classroom with her peers watching.

The officer has been identified as Deputy Ben Fields.  Once the video went viral, Deputy Fields was placed on administrative duty, Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said, according to News19.

“It’s very disturbing what happened today,” Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told WLTX Monday.  “It’s something I have to deal with and that’s what we’re going to be doing.”

The television station also reported that Lott has requested federal investigations by both the South Carolina branch of the FBI and the Justice Department.
