A group of black women has accused a Harlem eatery of racial profiling after the manager falsely accused them of dining and dashing, according to New York Daily News.

On February 10, Tara Fitzgibbon, Sharon Jones and Tamara Young walked into the Angel of Harlem restaurant and headed to the bar for drinks.

The women said that as they prepared to order, a manager approached the group and demanded to know how they planned to pay for their items.

Fitzgibbon says the manager told them, “You were here last week and ran up a tab and left.”

The women claim that when they mentioned that they'd never been to the restaurant prior to that night, the manager snatched the group’s menus, banged on the bar and accused them of lying.

Fitzgibbon alleges that the man claimed to have video of the diners-and-dashers, which he showed to them. Fitzgibbon says the woman on the tape “looked nothing” like her.

The restaurant was silent by then; all eyes were on Fitzgibbon and her friends, which added to the humiliation.

“We were beyond embarrassed,” said Fitzgibbon. “I felt dehumanized.”

The manager didn’t back down, and Young says she eventually spoke up and said, “What, do all black people look alike to you?”

The manager, who Fitzgibbon described as white or Hispanic, kicked them out. According to a police report, the manager kept shoving Young as they left.

“They made us feel as if we were criminals,” Fitzgibbon said.

Young and Fitzgibbon say they are considering legal action against Angel of Harlem.

Another woman, who only used the name Kristina, left a Yelp review making similar accusations from the same day. Kristina wrote that things became ugly when she tried to confront a bartender for overcharging her boyfriend. When she talked to the bartender, the woman became belligerent and accused the boyfriend of theft.

“We were told that my partner had been stealing drinks from the counter and that is why we were charged extra,” Kristina wrote in the review. “If he had been stealing, why weren’t we kicked out then? This doesn’t make any sense.”

When Kristina denied the accusations, the bartender allegedly responded with, “I’m from Europe, b*tch.”

Angel of Harlem hasn't responded to these accusations but confirmed that a female bartender had been suspended after being accused of racial profiling.

“It’s very sad that it went down the way it went down, but there are two sides to every story,” owner Anahi Angelone said.
