It was a historic week for several big-name celebrities. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry enjoyed his big moment on Tuesday when he became the NBA's all-time 3-point record holder. Curry broke the record, previously held by Ray Allen, when he made the 2,974th 3-pointer of his career in Tuesday's game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. 

After breaking the record, Curry had a heartfelt exchange with Allen.

The NBA All-Star celebrated the special moment by gifting Rolexes to Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala, two of his longtime teammates. 

Megan Thee Stallion strikes a deal with Netflix

Megan Thee Stallion also had a monumental achievement this week when she struck a deal with Netflix to produce new projects.

“I’ve always had a passion for telling creative and entertaining stories, so I’m thrilled about this partnership with Netflix,” Megan said, according to Shadow and Act. “Venturing into production is the next step in my journey as an entrepreneur and I can’t wait to bring all my ideas to life and for my Hotties to watch.”

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s head of comedy, described the 26-year-old as a "multi-talented creative force who has consistently made her mark on culture."

"She’s always growing and evolving as an artist, and we’re thrilled that she’s making a home at Netflix for this next chapter in her journey,” Pakosta said.

SZA rockets to the top of the charts

SZA enjoyed her historic moment when her song, "I Hate U," became the most-streamed R&B song by a female artist in its first week on Apple Music. According to Vibe, the song also peaked at No. 1 on Apple's Music's Daily Top 100 chart globally. 

“Y’all really made my biggest debut a SoundCloud jam and I dunno how to say thank you enuff  sorry if it’s annoying BUT I REALLY AM SO THANKFUL AHHHH PLAY I HATE CHU TIL HE HATE CHU,” the 32-year-old tweeted.

Doja Cat graces Rolling Stone

Doja Cat mesmerized her fans when she appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone's January issue. 

While speaking with Rolling Stone, Doja opened up about several aspects of her life, including the challenge of balancing her personal life and her career, and her perspective on social media.

“I don’t like seeing people talking about their relationships and shit on Twitter. That’s fucking embarrassing, and it’s a dumb thing to do. You know, don’t put your personal business out there,” she said in the interview. “I wouldn’t, like, announce that I’m single. I’d announce that I’m horny, but I wouldn’t announce that I’m single.”

JR Smith earns a 4.0 GPA

It was also a memorable week for NBA veteran JR Smith, who earned a 4.0 GPA in his first semester at HBCU North Carolina A&T State University.

“I can’t even describe the feeling," he said in a video message. "A lot of hard work went to that s**t. Monday to Friday, 8-11. Especially when you don’t think you can do it, you always hear about your disabilities and all this s**t plays a part in why you can't think the way you want to, calculate s**t and formulate s**t the way you want to. … And still being able to achieve that s**t, that s**t right there, I'm happy about that one.”

Travis Scott continues to face backlash

It wasn't such a great week for Travis Scott, who continues to face backlash after the deadly crowd surge at his Astroworld Festival concert left 10 people dead last month. The 30-year-old rapper is now removed from the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup, People reports. 

Anheuser-Busch also announced that the rapper's drink line, spiked seltzer Cacti, has been discontinued, according to NBC News.

Sources who spoke with TMZ said the rapper is now working with politicians and fellow musicians to ensure safety at concerts.

Officer testifies in the case of Tory Lanez

New developments emerged in the case of Tory Lanez, who has been accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion during a dispute last summer. 

Los Angeles detective Ryan Stogner, who testified at Lanez’s preliminary hearing on Tuesday, said the rapper shouted “Dance, b**ch” before shooting Megan. Stogner said Megan described Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, as “half in, half out,” on the step board of the vehicle, when he allegedly fired his weapon.

“Megan immediately felt pain to her feet, observed blood, fell to the ground, and then crawled to an adjacent driveway of a residence. … She described her injuries as bleeding profusely,” the officer said, according to Variety. 

But Lanez's representatives said there are inconsistencies in Megan's story.

"Today in court it was revealed that an independent witness reported to the LAPD that he observed a fight break out between the two women in the car, just prior to the shooting," the reps said in a statement, XXL Mag reports. "Megan herself corroborated this account, telling officers shortly after the incident that the argument was between her and the other female passenger in the car."

Additionally, the attorneys said, "the independent witness also told officers that the muzzle flash was closest to the other female, which is corroborated by the gunshot residue found on the other female’s hands."

Ye joins Future for a freestyle performance

Ye made headlines, again, when he joined Future for an interesting freestyle performance at Rolling Loud.

“One bill to another bill/That’s how a n***a really feel,” Kanye rapped, according to HipHop DX. “Put your muthaf**king hands up/Everybody need to stand up/Gotta get your f**king bands up/Throw your muthaf**king hands up/Jesus gang, Jesus gang/By myself I represent a gang/Kanye, you know the name/Ye Ye, n***a, you know the name.”

Denzel Washington opens up about losing his mother

Denzel Washington appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday and opened up about the passing of his mother Lennis Washington, who died in June at age 97.

"A mother is a son's first true love. A son, especially that first son, is a mother's last true love," Washington said as he was fighting tears. "She was there for everything, and she went home."


The Remember the Titans actor said he doesn't know if he was his mother's favorite child.

"I gave her the hardest time. I can tell you that," he said.

Washington also reminded the audience to "hug" and "love" the people closest to them.

Colbert presented a photo of Washington, his wife Pauletta Washington and Lennis at the 1990 Academy Awards. That's when the actor won Best Supporting actor for Glory, according to People. 

While he was overcome with emotion during the show, the actor added that he didn't cry at his mother's funeral.

"I guess I saved it up for you," Washington joked as he spoke with Colbert.
