Why is somebody alway suing Tidal?

Kanye West streamed his album listening party exclusively on the app and the plan was the same for his most recent album, The Life of Pablo. However, as Mr. West is very well known to do, there was a lot of last minute back and forth about whether that was actually what he wanted to do. It seems as though that indecision is catching up with West, his big brother and team captain Jay-Z, and Tidal in another negative legal confrontation.

According to Tech Crunch, after Kanye released the album and then took it down to make some last minute adjustments, there were users who paid for the album and didn’t receive it, while others were charged twice due to glitches. Not to mention that the album did not stay exclusive on Tidal for much time at all, and became available for streaming on other services very soon after its release.

The plaintiff in the suit is a former West fan Justin Baker-Rhett, who’s being represented by Edelson PC. Their argument is that many of the people who signed up for Tidal, Justin included, were misinformed and would not have done so if they knew it would not be the only way to hear the album. They also claim that the 2 million users added to Tidal are worth at least $84 million dollars.

Edelson PC has gone up against a number of corporate giants such as Google, Apple, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, and LinkedIn in the same way before which has earned them an unsavory reputation in many circles. However, whether they can prove their accusations of deception on Tidal and the Throne’s parts is yet to be seen.
