Tory Lanez made a grand entrance into 2017 on Sunday with the release of two mixtapes, The New Toronto 2 and Chixtape 4 .
As music lovers listened to the combined 25 tracks, as usual, the 24-year-old Ontario-born rapper showcased his knack for sampling throwbacks with a familiar tune from the early 2000s. The eighth track listing on Chixtape 4 is titled, "Proud Family" bringing back memories of the classic animated Disney series starring Kyla Pratt with the opening song performed by Solange Knowles.

Tory became an instant topic of conversation late Sunday, trending on Twitter well into Monday morning. Fans and critics alike noted the artist's ability to master throwback tunes with a trap quality sound. His 2015 hit, "Say It" sampled Brownstone's classic 1995 track, "If You Love Me." And last year, his "LUV" single notably sampled the Tanto Metro & Devonte's Jamaican dancehall hit, "Everyone Falls in Love" from 1997.
Hate it or love it, Tory brings a nostalgic vibe like no other, over and over again.
