Two people are dead after a shooting at UCLA, according to CNN.  Wednesday morning, UCLA police responded to a call of three gunshots. The Bruins Alert System, the university emergency alert system, alerted staff members and students about gun activity on campus. Shortly after, campus was  put on lockdown and all on campus were told to shelter in place. The university is home to 43,000 students and is a tremendously massive campus. In order to help secure this large area, additional police departments were called in. The LAPD, FBI and ATF  were brought in and remain as students are beginning to be released.

The city of Los Angeles was put on tactical alert, making sure that they are reallocating resources making sure that resources were being diverted to campus. As officers are ending shifts, instead of being allowed to go home they will be kept on to continue trying to secure the campus as well as respond to other service calls. Both the city and university took all the necessary steps to continue to ensure the safety of all.

During the tragic ordeal, a student named Teddi Mattox called into CNN from the school cafeteria, describing how students were forced to crowd into the back of a cafeteria after receiving an alert.  Students were described as being extremely scared and even a few were crying as they attempted to make sense of it all.

Chief Charlie Beck of the LAPD confirmed around noon, there was evidence of what could potentially be a suicide note. He went on to confirm that two males were found dead on the scene due to a gunshot wound in what appeared to be a murder-suicide. The incident took place within a small office in the engineering building, which is located on the south side of campus. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Our prayers and support go out to the UCLA Bruin family today.
