According to The Daily Blam, a U.S. remake of the popular British dramedy Misfits is in the works. Gossip Girl producer Josh Schwartz reportedly will begin early pre-production for a pitch to American networks.

Misfits, which airs on channel E4, and has won several BAFTA awards, stars Nathan Stewart Jarrett, Antonia Thomas, Lauren Socha, Robert Sheehan, and Iwan Rheon, as young offenders sentenced to serve community service together, whose lives are changed forever by a freak storm. Ruth Negga and Zawe Ashton also make appearances during the show’s first two series.

Question: Why do they have to go and mess up a good thing?!!

In my humble opinion, Misfits is one of the most clever, well-written shows on TV today. I would certainly not object to seeing Misfits aired, in its original form, on U.S. networks.

True, Misfits contains some offensive language and some sexuality, but that only makes it a perfect fit for cable networks like HBO, Showtime, or Cinemax. A watered-down, U.S. version of the show is not how viewers here should be intoduced to it.

If you haven’t yet seen the show, and you like funny, well-written TV, do yourself a favor and check out Misfits on Hulu, before this knock-off concept becomes a reality.
