On November 24, 2015 it was announced that Officer Jason Van Dyke will be charged with murder ahead of the video released this evening for the murder of 17-year old LaQuan McDonald which took place in October 2014. Just last week a judge ruled that the dashcam video of the murder of LaQuan McDonald be released by November 25th and the video has just been released.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel organized a meeting with community organizers which a collective of Black youth-led organizations (including BYP 100 and Black Lives Matter Chicago) declined to partake in the meeting and released a statement and held a press conference which can be accessed below:

Tensions in the city are building in the wake of a recent decision to fire Dante Servin who murdered Rekia Boyd due to the building pressure from Black youth-led organizations including BYP 100 and Black Lives Matter Chicago:

Prior to the video’s release BYP 100 also engaged in a social media campaign in hopes of educating people about the importance of self-care and the value of respecting the loss of lives in sharing the video, entitled #BeforeYouWatch:
What message will you send to Black ppl as we prepare for the release of the video showing the execution of #LaquanMcDonald? #BeforeYouWatch
