Halloween is just around the corner, and the costume possibilities are endless. Whether the goal is to see how sexy you can be without breaking any indecent exposure laws, or putting together a terrifying getup that will scare the kids off, there's really no wrong way to do it. With more resources than the average person, celebrities sometimes decide to switch it up completely — even dressing up as each other.

Each year, the bar is raised higher and higher, but check out these 11 examples that really take the cake.

1. Keke Palmer as Aaliyah

Keke Palmer "may not know who that man is," but she certainly knew how to channel Aaliyah for her 2015 Halloween costume. It's the  L-I-Y-A-H indeed.

2. Beyoncé as Toni Braxton

Beyoncé doesn't half-step on any of her endeavors and Halloween is no exception. Her 2018 Halloween fit duplicated the legendary Toni Braxton and her iconic '90s pixie haircut. There aren't too many things I can think of more superb than a Beyoncé x Toni mashup.

3. Tinashe as Snoop Dogg

A good Halloween costume doesn't always have to be totally accurate — sometimes it just has to be fun. That's exactly what Tinashe served up when she offered up this artistic interpretation of Snoop in 2015.

4. Karrueche Tran as Lil' Kim

Rap godmother Lil' Kim has a bounty of looks that are often imitated but never duplicated. That said, Karrueche Tran did a pretty good job for her 2015 costume, paying homage to Lil' Kim's blue-wig look featured in the "Crush on You" video.

5. Gabrielle Union Giving Us Gwen Stefani

One of the more creative costumes comes in the form of Gabrielle Union as Gwen Stefani. Not only does she nail the outfit and hair, she also puts on a pretty good show as the No Doubt frontwoman for last year’s Halloween festivities.

6. Diddy as Prince

Every Halloween it becomes obvious Prince — aka the Purple One — will live on forever. That seemed to be the sentiment in 2012 when Diddy gave his best Prince impression four years before the musician passed away.

7. Winnie Harlow as RuPaul

Popular model Winnie Harlow recreated RuPaul's groundbreaking Viva Glam MAC campaign for the line's 25th anniversary.

However, that wasn't the first time Harlow paid homage to RuPaul's glamorous glory, because in 2018 she dressed up as the infamous drag star for Heidi Klum's annual Halloween Party.

8. Beyoncé, Blue and Tina as Salt-N-Pepa

Appearing on the list again — but this time with mom Tina Knowles-Lawson and daughter Blue Ivy — Beyoncé offered up some classic Salt-N-Pepa (plus DJ Spinderella) realness for this '80s and 90s-themed birthday party in 2016.

9. Eniko Hart and Friends as TLC

A costume party isn't complete until you see at least one good TLC trio. Eniko Hart certainly didn't disappoint when she and her friends gave us TLC circa "No Scrubs."

10. Keke Palmer as Selena

We would do anything for Salenaasss. Obviously, so would Keke Palmer, who flawlessly gave us a Selena 'fit for 2016.

11. The Game and Jidenna as Each Other

Art intimidated life in this inception-inspired swap, when classic man Jidenna dressed as East Coast rapper The Game in 2016. Interestingly enough, The Game also dressed as Jidenna the Halloween before!

There's absolutely no telling what celebs will come up with this year, but there will surely be plenty of material to add to this list.
