Sometimes our emotions are our best friends

Amandla Stenberg is a force to be reckoned with, and the soon to be NYU film school student has just released what served as her application to the prestigious film school, a short film entitled, ‘Blue Girls Burn Fast’. Amandla wrote, produced, shot, and edited the short, which tells the poignant story of adolescent rebellion and emotional struggles, all mixed in with a little comedy.

The story’s protagonist is Andy, a foster teen trying to navigate family and school life.

One night, Andy’s neighbor (Lea) sneaks into her room and changes Andy’s life from that point on. We get to see Andy go through a series of challenging circumstances, and deliver some great one-liners as well.

Kudos to Amandla for all that she has done, is doing, and will certainly continue to do. We are all looking forward to seeing what the future filmmaker has in store for us.
