Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez returned to work after the August break in Congress and yet again asked to begin work on impeaching President Trump. Ocasio-Cortez focused her efforts on Tuesday at Republican officials who could deny the impeachment in Senate, saying she wanted those officials to vote ahead of time and go on record supporting Trump.

We have to do our job. Once the House impeaches, the House has impeached the president and then that hearing goes to the Senate," Ocasio-Cortez said Tuesday to reporters at Capitol Hill. "If they want to fail it, then I want to see every Republican go on the record and knowingly vote against impeachment of this president, knowing his corruption, having it on the record so that they can have that stain on their careers for the rest of their lives, because this is outrageous to protect the amount of lawlessness and corruption coming out of this presidency."

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee started a probe into an unusual stop made by an Air National Guard crew at the president's Scottish resort. This according to a Politico report issued Friday. Ocasio-Cortez's concerns for impeachment follow that report's allegations.

The report outlines concerns Trump is using the United States Military to keep the resort open. According to Politico, the property lost $4.5 million in 2017 but revenue increased by $3 million in 2018.

Ocasio-Cortez has made clear her belief as well that regardless of the results of a potential impeachment inquiry if members of both parties in congress stand up for what is right.

“This president will not last,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “Whether he’s voted out next year or whether he serves another term, this president will not last but those members in the Senate need to carry that legacy and they need to go to bat for what they’re doing. The corruption of this president knows no bounds and in order to protect our democracy we have to impeach him."

If articles of impeachment were to be introduced, the House of Representatives, where Democrats have an advantage, would have to approve them only by a simple majority. If approved, the president would officially be impeached, but not removed from office, until a trial took place in the Republican-controlled Senate.
