Sha'Carri Richardson Said She Was In An Abusive Relationship With A Female Athlete
The athlete also said she experienced homophobia while in her relationship.

American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson said she’s trying to heal from emotional trauma after being in an abusive relationship, according to The Source. On her Instagram, she said she also experienced homophobia while in her relationship with an unidentified Jamaican athlete.
“I was in a relationship with a Jamaican athlete that never cared about me from jump,” the 22-year-old shared on her Instagram stories. “I was abused and stole from yet protected her from the judgment of her country & family while they dragged me. I had to deal with homophobic and so much more that I’m still healing from.”
Richardson followed up her story with a meme that seemed to reveal more about the relationship, Aceshowbiz reports.
“I don’t understand how someone can just walk out of your life and not care about you anymore,” the post read.
She also posted Fetty Wap’s song “The Truth,” highlighting a lyric that says “and I’m tellin’ the truth.”
“Feels amazing living in my truth,” she wrote.
She also posted a photo of herself with her ex before taking it down.
Richardson rose to stardom after qualifying for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. As Blavity previously reported, all eyes were on the sprinter after she ran the 100-meter dash in 10.87 seconds, shocking the world and snagging a spot on the Olympic team.
She was later disqualified from the Games due to failing a drug test. The runner admitted to using marijuana after learning of her mother’s death.
The 22-year-old has since bounced back with brand deals as she’s continued her athletic career. According to FloTrack, Richardson has topped her 2021 jaw-dropping 100-meter time, running the distance in just 10.3 seconds.
