Angela Rye is one of CNN's most popular political commentators and now she's heading to BET to help host a series of news specials launching this month.

Rye is set to host and executive produce the quarterly series, which is poised to dig deep into issues and stories affecting black America.

"Working with BET always provides a reminder of why I began to do this work," Rye said in a statement to Blavity. "It is essential that we have platforms where we can discuss our politics, our challenges, and our culture through our respective lenses. The upcoming special will provide a glimpse of what’s to
come with our partnership.”

First up in series is a special tentatively titled “Angela Rye’s State of the Union," which will be a primetime rebuttal to President Trump’s State of the Union address airing Wednesday, January 31 at 10PM ET.

Journalist Marc Lamont Hill also renewed his contract with network as he signs on to help separately deliver quality news coverage for BET throughout 2018.

“I am proud to help deliver the programming,” Hill said in a statement to Blavity. ”I am also excited to be joined by my brilliant colleague Angela Rye, who will make our team stronger than ever.”

Update: This piece has been updated to clarify that Rye will be hosting a series of news specials, not headlining a new show on BET.
