Anthony Mackie joins the cast of one of at least three films in the works about the life of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Titled The Fifth Estate, and to be directed by Dreamgirls/Twilight director Bill Condonfrom a script by The West Wing's Josh Singer, which begun shooting this week, boasts Brit actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead as Assange.

Rounding out the strong cast are Laura Linney, David Thewlis and Peter Capaldi.

No word on what role exactly Mackie will play, but the film will reportedly focus on the early days of the WikiLeaks through Assange's meteoric rise into the public sphere, and is based on 2 books: WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World's Most Dangerous Website, written by Daniel Domscheit-Berg; and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy, by David Leigh and Luke Harding.

DreamWorks has set a release date set for November 15, and will probably be pushed as an awards contender for 2014.

Mackie is certainly one busy actor; in the next 12 to 16 months, look for him in films like The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, Vipaka, Pain And Gain, A Many Splintered ThingCaptain America: Winter Soldier , and more.
