Terri Silar was involved in a debate about gun control with her colleagues at her workplace in Tampa, Florida. When she returned to her desk the next day, she found a stuffed monkey on a noose with an egregious racist note attached, WTSP reported

Silar shared photos of the stuffed monkey on Facebook last Wednesday. The note taped on the stuffed monkey read: "You are getting deported back to Africa n***er and that will make America great again." It was signed: "Whites 4 Trump." Another note attached to her computer screen read: "*N***er B**ch." Her post has been shared nearly 50,000 times.

In an interview with WTSP, Silar said the incident made her feel threatened.

"…I felt threatened, I didn't feel safe, that is a blatant boldness, and a hate crime," she said. "It's a monkey with a noose around its neck, what message do you think I'm going to take from that?"

Silar immediately reported the incident to her boss and filed a report with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, who is investigating the incident, WTSP reported.

Although Silar didn't reveal the name of the company, she told WTSP that the company has been supportive and actively working to find the person responsible.

"You know what, I want to believe that we've moved so far, but then when this happened, I'm like 'did we move, are we standing still?'" Silar said. "I don't know, I just don't feel progression after something like this."
