Top articles in September

We hope to provide you with the best content we can, so here’s a quick list of some of the posts that readers loved in September. Did you miss any of them? Check them out below!

Blavity in the press

I spoke at the Tech Inclusion Conference earlier in September, alongside a bunch of talented and committed entrepreneurs, executives, and change-makers who are focused on making the tech industry better by adding more color to it.

I chatted with @jozenc on the @EmpirePodcast about race  and how black women are developed as characters on TV.

Jonathan chopped it up with @FriendsofEbonie about social justice, media and how Black millennials are leading the charge. You can catch the replay here and the tweets here.

My Favorite Things from September

Perfect for sipping my Pumpkin Spice Latte while my curls are popping and the dulcet tones of Fetty ‘Vandross’ Wap serenade my ear drums.

We Got Hacked. The site went down. Then we won.

The “innanets” aren’t always a friendly place, especially when you’re a growing media company. We got hacked earlier in the month, but our tech team sprung into action, and we were back up in no time. A great team >>> whatever problems you might face.

Blavity For Good.

Since our inception, our goal has been to work with people and organizations that promote the wholeness and wellness of our community, whether it be emotional, fiscal, spiritual, physical or otherwise. I can’t divulge the exact campaign yet, but we are working with a special organization to educate and engage with an issue that affects the Black community. I can’t wait for you guys to see it!

Email Newsletter

If you haven’t subscribed to our weekly email newsletter yet, I have one question for you. Why? It’s like The Skimm, but for black people. If you’re looking for a weekly overview of the news you should know (summarized in short, witty ways), sign up now.

Blavity and Chill

Is your week deserving of a drink? Then join us for Blavity & Chill, a happy hour that we’re hosting in Washington, D.C. and Harlem in the next two weeks. Tickets are free, and it’s the easiest way to be surrounded by black creatives in a laid-back setting. There were over 350 RSVPs in the first 72 hours that the D.C. tickets were on sale — don’t miss out.

Blavity Live is Here

With the new fall tv line-up, and a presidential election looming, @BlavityLive is here for all your live TV tweeting. We brought 100K people out for the Empire season premiere, and it’s getting bigger every week. Follow us and come watch your favorite shows with the Blavity Fam. EVERYTHING LIT.

New Instagrams

It wouldn’t be Blavity if we didn’t do it for the ‘gram. Check out @BlavityEvents for pictures of the wonderful Blavity community at our events and @BlavityShop for the flyest gear. We’ve got you covered. We’re also on Pinterest, because, like you, we love big pictures of food, great decor for our future #lifegoals and clothes.
