Whadaya know? Bounce TV is starting to fulfill an earlier promise when the station launched, to include original programming in its broadcast lineup.
It was just about a week ago when the new network announced that it would launch its first-ever original series Family Time – a half hour situation comedy created by Bentley Kyle Evans (The Jamie Foxx Show, Martin, Love That Girl) and produced by Evans and partnerTrenten Gumbs.
Family Time centers on the life and times of The Stallworths, a working class African American family who scratches off a lottery ticket and jumps to middle class overnight.
Omar Gooding (Baby Boy, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper) stars as the patriarch of the show, leading a cast that includes Angell Conwell, Jayla Calhoun and Bentley Kyle Evans, Jr.
Family Time debuts on Bounce TV June 18, and will air on Mondays at 8pm.
And today comes another original series announcement… this one titled Uptown Comic, a half-hour comedy show, featuring stage and skit performances, to be hosted by comic Joe Torry, shot in front of a live studio audience in Atlanta, home of the series' producers (who are also co-founders of Bounce TV) Rob Hardy and Will Packer of Rainforest Films (currently basking in the box office success of Think Like A Man).
"We envision 'Uptown Comic' combining the best elements of 'Def Comedy Jam' and 'In Living Color,'" Packer said.
The new show will air weekly on Mondays (starting on June 18) with the aforementioned Family Time, during the 8 pm to 9pm hour.
