A Cameroonian man traveling to Dubai for business was wrapped in plastic while being forcibly deported from Turkey.

In a newly released video, the man is seen in distress while screaming for assistance as other passengers from the Turkish Airlines flight look on and argue over the situation.

On January 21, Emmanuel Chedjou, 47, was in Istanbul for an eight-hour layover and went to run an errand while his girlfriend stayed behind. When he returned to the airport, Turkish authorities detained him for allegedly using a fake visa, The Independent reports. Chedjou claims any irregularities in his visa were a result of the fraudulent travel agency that booked his trip.

“I wanted to go to Dubai with my girlfriend to buy a shipment of shoes. I organized the entire trip through a travel agency,” Chedjou told France 24. “It was the first time I had organized such a trip and I only realized later that I had been scammed.”

Turkish passport control decided to detain the couple and planned to deport them on January 23, but Chedjou, determined to continue his trip to Dubai, adamantly protested. They were then sent to a detention facility where Chedjou said he was denied access to both a lawyer and his phone.

"They confiscated my phone and told me to sign papers that I couldn’t read because they were in Turkish. I asked to speak to a lawyer and the officers who were there refused to let me. I don’t know who exactly these officers were – they might have been police officers, gendarmes or security officers. They weren’t wearing uniforms," Chedjou said.

After several days, officials decided to wrap the businessman in plastic and force him onto flight TK667 from Istanbul to Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon. His girlfriend was sent back to Yaounde which is 150 miles from their hometown of Douala.

The Independent reported that under the wrap, the man's ankles were cuffed and his mouth was taped shut at certain points. His hands were also restricted with plastic ties. Chedjou claimed he begged to eat while being detained at the Istanbul airport.

“They took two giant rolls of plastic film, which is used in airports to wrap up suitcases. They wrapped me in layer upon layer from my neck to my feet and it was absolutely impossible to move. That’s when I started struggling to breathe,” Chedjou said.

While on the flight, three men are seen in a video attempting to remove the thick plastic wrap from his body. When the detainee finally has the ability to stand, the crowd erupts in cheers.

On Facebook, a man created a post in French calling for a boycott of the airline. The post included a video of Chedjou stripped down to his underwear while still attempting to free himself from the luggage plastic wrap.

"YOU NEED TO boycott Turkish…Here is an African who is sent back to Africa in the most barbaric conditions…Will the other way happen in Africa?! The white man will never love black man. We live a co-existence of hypocrites!!" the translated post read.

Chedjou is now seeking compensation for his suffering and humiliation. He said he plans to speak out against Turkish Airlines officials for his mistreatment.

“I want compensation for everything I went through and, if possible, I’m going to file a complaint,” Chedjou said.
