Two weeks ago, we reported on a group of Cleveland Browns players choosing to stand, or better yet, kneel in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. The group of player's kneeled during the National Anthem causing a media storm because despite blackballing Kaepernick, players are continuing their silent protest.

It seems that the choice of peaceful protest has angered some people in blue. Cleveland.com reports that Cleveland's police union will not be holding the American flag for a pregame ceremony for the Brown's first game on Sept. 10. Their reasoning? I bet you guessed it.

How dare they not stand in support of the flag. Furthermore, how dare the Browns administration let their players practice their first amendment rights!

Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association President Steve Loomis had a lot to say on the matter.

"The players not standing for the national anthem is offensive because of the sacrifices that people make that allows these guys to enjoy the success that they have," Loomis said. "While they're benefiting from protection of the flag they are kneeling in disrespect of it."

He went on to further his claim by saying "it's just ignorant for someone to do that," he said. "It just defies logic to me. The fact that management was aware of what they planned on doing, that's as offensive as it can get."

Loomis said many of the Browns fans are law-abiding patriotic citizens, and he called the move by the players a slap to the face of the fans. What's most ironic is they're protesting the player's right to protest.

Since Loomis spoke out, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia told the HuffPost that the police department is not boycotting the Browns and that the union "does not speak for" the department.

While the union doesn't speak for the department, it does speak for many police officers. Every day, many police officers continue to show us what side they're standing on. If that's how they feel about the national anthem, imagine how they feel about us.
