Not only will Kevin Hart’s concert tour movie Laugh At My Pain open in several AMC theaters across the country, beginning on September 9th, Codeblack Entertainment will also release the film theatrically in a few African countries (including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and others), in a new partnership with Silverbird Cinemas – a dominant theater chain serving those territories.

This is said to be a multi-year distribution deal between the two companies, which also includes an agreement that Codeblack Entertainment will exclusively bring Black American Comedians to perform live comedy shows to those African countries.

I should note that Codeblack already has distribution deals in place with media companies in South Africa to license a portion of its library for broadcast in that country.

Codeblack says it has a number of projects in “various stages of production and development,” including a partnership with NBA Pro turned film director Shaquille O’Neal; Russell Simmons and Stan Lathan for the Def Comedy Jam catalog; and Bishop TD Jakes for the sequel to Woman Thou Art Loosed (On The 7th Day), which will also wear the honor of being the second film to be released for theatrical release in a handful of territories in Africa in early 2012.
