Washington, D.C., council member Trayon White, Sr. issued an apology for comments he made in a video Friday alluding to a conspiracy theory that the Rothschilds, a wealthy Jewish banking family, controlled the weather. White apologized for his anti-Semitic remarks on social media Sunday night.
On Friday, White reportedly uploaded a now-deleted video to his official Facebook page in which he referenced the Rothschilds and the snowy weather conditions in the nation's capital, CNN reported.
"Man, it just started snowing out of nowhere this morning, man," he said in the video according to CNN. "Y'all better pay attention to this climate control, man, this climate manipulation. And D.C. keep talking about, 'we a resilient city.' And that's a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful."
White later uploaded a statement apologizing for his comments on both Instagram and Facebook following public backlash.
"I really do apologize," he wrote on Twitter. "I work very closely with the Jewish community and never want to offend anyone, especially with Anti-Semitic remarks."

In his apology letter, White noted he had since been in communication with Jews United for Justice, a grassroots community organization based in the Washington area focused on pursuing justice and equality in local communities.
The organization's official Twitter account tweeted that it will look forward to "working with [White] toward deeper understanding of [anti-Semitism] and toward our collective liberation":
We spoke with @trayonwhite tonight about how his comments played into the long history of antisemitism. We look forward to working with him toward deeper understanding of antisemitism and toward our collective liberation.
