Delroy Lindo in "Chicago Code"

Last we had any news to report on the underused Delroy Lindo, it was in February, when he signed up to co-star in the NBC drama pilot Believe, from Alfonso Cuaron and J.J. Abrams, about a gifted young girl with powers that’ll fully mature in seven years, and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down.

Delroy Lindo was to play a man named Winter, described as a kind man, posing as a priest with an honorable agenda, but isn’t what he seems.

NBC did pick up the series, which should debut during the 2013/2014 TV season, which is good for Mr Lindo and his bank account.

This morning brings news that he’s been cast in writer/director Michael Almereyda’s drama Cymbeline, which is described as a contemporary take on the Shakespeare play of the same name, about new lovers separated and caught in webs of confusion and deceit, all while their nation (Britain) prepares to battle Rome.

Lindo will play Belarius, a lord banished for being a traitor for supposedly conspiring with the Romans, who’s disguised under the name of Morgan.

This is one Shakespeare play that I have not read, but from the little research done, it seems Belarius is actually quite involved in the overall plot, and shouldn’t just be screen filler. Of course, that’s in the original play. What writer/director Almereyda’s screenplay adaptation reads like, I can’t say, because, well, I haven’t read it. Almereyda and I just aren’t tight like that…

Lindo joins Ed Harris, Dakota Johnson, Penn Badgely, Milla Jovovich, Ethan Hawke, Boyd Holbrook and Anton Yelchin in the film adaptation produced by Anthony Katagas

When we last saw Lindo on screen it was before Fox canceled The Chicago Code – the cop drama that he co-starred, alongside Jennifer Beals, and several others.
