Dwayne Johnson, aka the hardest working man in showbiz, has signed up to star in Disney’s big screen adaptation of its theme park ride "Jungle Cruise," which will be penned by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra ("Focus").
Davis Entertainment "Man From U.N.C.L.E" are producing.
The studio is hoping for a franchise that’s as successful as another Disney theme park ride in "The Pirates of the Caribbean."
The Jungle Cruise ride takes parkgoers into "a mélange of African settings such as the Nile River and Congo River, encountering rhinos and hippos and headhunters along the way. There’s an Amazon River section featuring piranhas."
No word yet on how exactly Disney and company plan to adapt those above ideas into a motion picture, but I’m sure they’ll find a way.
The project is in early development.
Johnson is an in-demand actor, with multiple projects on both the big and small screens this year, and on his future slate. Currently he’s filming the action comedy "Central Intelligence" with Kevin Hart.
