Lots of Eddie Murphy items lately it seems, from the 2012 Oscar host announcement, to the upcoming release of Tower Heist , getting over his SNL grudge, and turning Beverly Hills Cop into a TV series; did I miss anything? And now this quote from Eddie:

“I still want to do something like that… I have this idea called ‘Jamal and Tyrell and Omar and Brick and Michael’s Wack-Ass Weekend‘ about this group of guys who get abducted by aliens on the way to the fights. I’m writing that now.”

In case you haven’t already heard, Tower Heist was originally supposed to have an all-black cast, with the likes of Eddie, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan and Martin Lawrence; so when Murphy says, “I still want to do something like that,” he’s referring to a teaming up of all the black comedians I just mentioned in an all-black cast comedy.

Now… I don’t know what Eddie’s disposition was when he reportedly said this in the Rolling Stone interview (the new print version) that the quote was lifted from, and which is now spreading rapidly across the web. Was he being serious, or just joshing… especially with that title (Jamal and Tyrell and Omar and Brick and Michael’s Wack-Ass Weekend)?

*Shrug* We’ll see.

And now, Eddie reacts to the announcement that Rick Ross had a seizure:
