nullCurrently 'in negotiations' according to Deadline, The Walking Dead's director Ernest Dickerson will direct the AMC pilot Low Winter Sun, which is based on the 2006 British miniseries. The pilot, starring Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Honeydripper, Law & Order, Person of Interest) and Transporter's Athena Karkanis, will be directed and executive produced by Chris Mundy, executive producer of the TV series Cold Case and Criminal Minds.

Low Winter Sun is described as a "contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption," in which Hudson will play Lt. George Torrace, a 25-year veteran fighting detroit crime and politics, whose life is forever altered by the 'perfect murder' of fellow detective Frank Agnew (Mark Strong). His murder will further drag him into the grimy Detroit underworld. Kakanis will play a "beautiful and highly intelligent detective who is a “bright light” on the force." Actor James Ransone co-stars.

Low Winter will be Dickerson's pilot directorial debut. He started in the industry as a cinematographer; he collaborated with Spike Lee on Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing and Jungle Fever. Recently, Dickerson served as recurring director for HBO's The Wire, Dexter and Treme.
