Forest Whitaker and Common will team with Michael Chiklis and Ray Liotta for an indie crime feature film titled Pawn.

The film, to be directed by first-timer David A. Armstrong, tells the story of a hostage situation gone terribly wrong, and will be produced by Chiklis’ production company Extravaganza Films.

An ex-con becomes entangled in a manipulative chess game between the Feds, local police and the mob.

No word on who is playing what character.

Pawn starts production this week.

You can catch Common on AMC's new Reconstruction drama Hell On Wheels; Whitaker recently wrapped photography on his horror/thriller Vipaka, with Anthony Mackie and Sanaa Lathan.
